Daily Math

Privacy Policy

This policy covers all three drills — Daily Math, Daily Kanji and Daily Proverbs — together with their introduction and portal pages.

The Match Record service, also listed on the portal page, is a separate service handling a different kind of information. It is not covered by this policy.

1Who runs this, and how to get in touch

These are free learning drills run by one individual, not by a company or organisation.

For questions, bug reports, or requests to delete your record, please write to the address below. It is read by one person, so a reply may take a little while.

2What is collected

Your record of play

You can play without signing in. In that case a cookie (a session ID) stored in your browser is what your record is tied to: which problems you answered, how many you got right, how long each answer took, and which pictures you have collected.

You are never asked for a name, address, phone number or date of birth. As long as you play as a guest, the record cannot be traced back to a person.

If you sign in with a Google account

Signing in with a Google account is offered so that a record can continue on another device. If you do, the email address, display name and account ID supplied by Google are stored, and the record you built as a guest is carried over to that account.

Signing in is optional. Every problem and every feature works the same way without it.

Server logs

The server records the IP address, time, and browser type (user agent) of each request. These are used only to investigate faults and to deal with abuse, and are deleted automatically after 30 days.

3How that information is used

It is used only for the following.

  • To save your record so you can carry on where you left off
  • To show more of the problems you find hard (question weighting)
  • To investigate faults and improve the drills themselves

It is never sold or handed to third parties, except where disclosure is required by law.

4Advertising and cookies

The introduction and portal pages use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this and other sites. Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies at www.aboutads.info.

Affiliate adverts (through programmes such as A8.net) may also appear at the foot of the drill pages. These too use cookies, to record which advert a visit to a shop came through.

There is not a single advert on the screen where the problems are answered (the blackboard). Nothing interrupts a child who is concentrating — that is a rule we keep.

5Analytics

No analytics tool such as Google Analytics is used. Apart from the advertising cookies and the server logs described above, nothing tracks visitors.

6Use by children

These drills are built for children to open and use by themselves. That is exactly why a guest is never asked for anything that could identify the child.

Whether to sign in with a Google account is for a parent or guardian to decide. It exists only to carry a record across devices; nothing else changes.

7Deleting your record

For a guest record, clearing your browser's cookies severs the link, and the record can no longer be reached.

To have a signed-in record deleted, please write to tass1240@gmail.com.

8Disclaimer and changes

Every care is taken with the content, but no guarantee is made that it is free of error, and no responsibility is accepted for any loss arising from its use.

This policy may be revised when necessary. Any revision will be published on this page.
